What is a Dengue / Chikungunya?

This panel tests one blood sample for both dengue and chikungunya, and its logic is straightforward: the two viruses are carried by the same Aedes mosquitoes, circulate in the same season, produce overlapping symptoms, and can even infect the same person simultaneously. Testing for one alone leaves the obvious alternative unanswered and frequently means a second sample days later, which delays the picture at the point where monitoring decisions are being made. Separating them matters because what your doctor watches for differs. Dengue's danger lies in the critical phase around days three to seven, when fever settles but plasma can leak from blood vessels and platelets fall, so the platelet count and haematocrit are followed closely.
