What is a HB + TLC + DLC + Platelet?

This panel covers haemoglobin, the total and differential white cell counts, and the platelet count. Compared with the version that substitutes ESR, it makes a materially better choice in one specific and locally important situation: fever during and after the monsoon. Dengue characteristically lowers both the white cell count and the platelet count, and it is the platelet trend through the critical phase, usually days three to seven, that guides how closely someone needs watching. It remains insufficient for classifying anaemia, and for a patient with confirmed dengue being followed daily, the full count with haematocrit is what your doctor will want because the rising haematocrit and falling platelet pattern is what signals plasma leak.
